Pop Latin

The primary difference between glam metal and heavy metal is in lyrics, image and melody. Heavy metal lyrical content extends from "reality lament" tone of blues, discussing serious, provocative or philosophical ideas. Heavy metal image usually sports "macho" black leather, dark clothing or punk-influenced dressing with leather jackets and jeans. Melodies and the whole music in general are generally not "catchy" and pop-influenced as glam metal. Glam metal (in some cases referred to as "hair metal"), on the other hand, extends from its more "fantasy escapist" tones of pop music, and the lyrics tends to focus more on parties, having a good time, and relationships. The image of these bands are huge, teased hairs, outrageous outfits and a lot of make up. (Note: do not confuse with power metal, which is "fantasy escapist" in the sense that the lyrics deal with such fantastical subjects as magic and classical myth).

Pop Rock

Noise Euro pop as a genre typically contains standard pop instrumentation; electric guitar, bass guitar, drumset, and occasionally keyboards; with a number of effects and methods often present in the songs, including fuzz, feedback, drones, and minimalism, which are usually not present in more mainstream forms of music. Song structures generally follow standard pop/rock formulae, and song lengths usually tend to be around 3 minutes; noise pop is therefore viewed as being more accessible than its cousin, noise rock. Despite the genre's arguable evolution from punk rock, where lyrics are typically spoken or shouted, most noise pop bands feature sung, melodic vocals, and harmonies are not altogether uncommon in the genre.

Pop Music

Highlights for pop music in the 1980s are Michael Jackson's second Epic label release, Thriller, which went on to become the best-selling album of all time. Jackson was the most successful artist of the 80s, spanning nine #1 singles in the United States alone during that decade, and selling over 136 million copies with only two albums — Thriller, and its follow-up Bad. Since the early nineties, Jackson has been often referred to and regarded as the "King of Pop". Another important artist in the 1980s was Madonna. Considered the "Queen of Pop", Madonna had a unique mix of pop music with other musical genres, including electronic, Dance and R&B. Madonna has sold 250 million copies worldwide and has seventeen albums clasified as Platinum in United States, apart from two certified Diamond (Like a Virgin, The Immaculate Collection).
